I recently received a piece of code, written in Perl, that is to be used in a research collaboration. When running the appropriate command, I received errors about Math-Random. So, clearly, this wasn’t installed.
Although I thought I got the correct RPM via YUM, my Perl installation still didn’t recognize that package. So, I downloaded the package at http://search.cpan.org/~grommel/Math-Random-0.71/Random.pm and followed the directions at http://www.cpan.org/modules/INSTALL.html. The only difference between the instructions at the last link and what commands I issued is that I ignored step B. Everything worked perfectly.
I hope this has been helpful.
