The AFOSR requires presentations on progress be submitted via Powerpoint presentations. In the process of converting the .eps files to .jpg, I had ImageMagick difficulties when using the command “convert”. Convert didn’t work well for me when inputting the .jpg files into Powerpoint.
Powerpoint versions 2002 and 2003 crashed in Windows (shock!) immediately upon attempting to open the file. Powerpoint 2004 in Mac OS opened the presentation, but did not render the images instead leaving a “big black X” in their place according to my advisor. Consequently, I installed the Gimp using the command
apt-get install gimp
as root. I simply re-saved the original .eps files into the .jpg format and inserted them into the Powerpoint presentation. Perhaps I should submit this as a bug.
