Everyone needs to play DVDs. Everyone nowadays at least. How does one accomplish this given that Fedora maintains a strict non-proprietary software inclusion policy? These policies don’t mean that you can’t/shouldn’t do it, just that Fedora won’t leave you with an OS that way.
I installed the Livna repository (see past Fedora 9 posts) via .rpm. I then installed libdvdcss (the standard file). But it didn’t work fully. I continued to install libdvdnav and its dependencies. In the end
# yum -y install xine-lib-extras-nonfree
made the difference for me.
Now Star Trek: Voyager plays perfectly for me.
