# Changing Counter Setting

I was creating a presentation in the LaTeX Beamer documentclass and needed to split an enumerate (for homework assignments) across two slides. I had the first two questions on the original “Exercises” slide and wanted the other two on the second. Here’s how this works:

end{enumerate}
end{frame}

begin{frame}
frametitle{Exercises, cont.}
begin{enumerate}
setcounter{enumi}{2}
begin{enumerate}

item …

item …

end{enumerate}

The command “setcounter{enumi}{2}” resets the enumerate counter to 2. Then, when I issue the “item” command, the enumerate counter is incremented by one to 3 and I see no discrepancy between enumerate environments about how my exercises are numbered.
